UHV point sources (heater elements)

The UHV point sources are heater elements designed for single use or for building up a cluster evaporator yourself.

Head is made of quartz glass, sapphire or Al2O3 allowing a temperature range from 20°C to 1250°C.

Due to the choice of material, the sources show very low degassing and allow an ultimately clean preparation. They can be removed easily in combination with a unit plug.

UHV point source Q5L

Head made of quartz glass

Temperature range from 20°C to 450°C (to 650°C shielded).
For crucibles with OD 5mm made of
quartz glass or aluminium.
Heater head consisting only of
quartz glass and tungsten
(apart from a very small ceramic fixing of the thermocouple).
This source allows an ultimately clean preparation.

UHV point source Q5H

Head made of quartz glass

Temperature range from 20°C to 850°C
For crucibles with OD 5mm made of quartz glass
or sapphire. Heater head consisting only of
quartz glass and tungsten (apart from a very small
ceramic fixing of the thermocouple and two small leads).
This source allows a higher final temperature thanks to very low energy consumption.
At higher temperature, the energy consumption can be reduced by shielding off the point source.

UHV point source Q3L

Head made of quartz glass

Temperature range from 20°C to 450°C (to 650°C shielded).
For crucibles with OD 3mm made of
quartz glass or aluminium.
Point sources with the same design as the Q5L element.
The smaller crucibles have a smaller exit angle.

UHV point source Q3H

Head made of quartz glass

Temperature range from 20°C to 850°C.
For crucibles with OD 3mm made of
quartz glass or sapphire. Point source with the same design as the Q5H element.
The smaller crucibles have a smaller exit angle.
Due to the smaller design, these point sources
have the lowest energy consumption. At higher temperature, energy consumption can be reduced by shielding off the point source.

UHV point source A5

Head made of Al2O3

Temperature range from 20°C to 1250°C.
For crucibles with OD 5mm made of sapphire.
Heater head consisting only of ceramic Al2O3
and tungsten (apart from a very small ceramic fixing of the thermocouple and four small leads).
This source allows a high final temperature. At higher temperature, energy consumption can be reduced by shielding off the point source.
S5-heater

Head made of sapphire

Temperature range from 20°C to 1250°C.
For crucibles with OD 5mm made of sapphire.
Heater head consisting only of sapphire and tungsten (apart from a very small ceramic fixing of the thermocouple and four small leads).
This source allows a high final temperature.
The properties of the sapphire guarantee very low degassing and a very low temperature gradient. At higher temperature, energy consumption can be reduced by shielding off the point source.
